2023 Year in Review: Taking Pack’s DXP to the next level

This past year has been one to remember. We've witnessed incredible growth in every area of our business —  revenue, team, and partnership — while also zeroing in on our goals to enrich and invest in the Shopify ecosystem.

While our successes from 2023 place Pack in a strong position to take our digital experience platform to the next level, our team is always focused on the future. This year, our team is eager and ready to elevate not only our product but also add value to the rapidly evolving Hydrogen movement as a whole.

Let’s take a look at our highlight accomplishments from 2023.

Product growth: Launching our partnership with Shopify Hydrogen

By far, our greatest achievement in 2023 was solidifying Pack's partnership with Shopify Hydrogen and building out a robust feature set to support it. This partnership marks a new era of headless commerce.

When combined with Hydrogen, Pack makes it easy for anyone to create and customize a modern storefront. Our Hydrogen integration also proves brands don't need to invest in a traditional headless CMS to create a blazing-fast and content-rich site. Marketers get a user-friendly interface to manage site components and content, while developers focus on building new features that captivate audiences and drive sales. With deep integrations with metaobjects and support for Remix and Oxygen, merchants can maximize the ROI of their Shopify investment. 

With Shopify’s latest investments in Hydrogen, they’re making massive strides in delivering enterprise-level flexibility to mid to large brands. We're tremendously proud to be at their side as both a partner and solution. 

This year, Hydrogen will become much more than just a headless toolset. Hydrogen will become an ecosystem where tech stacks and visual layers (like Pack) will enhance its functionality and usefulness for Shopify merchants everywhere.

Business growth: Building more revenue, more partners, and zero churn

Despite headless hitting some macroeconomic headwinds (no pun intended) in 2023, Pack grew revenue by 100% from 2022.

Our team attributes this success in large part to our ever-expanding merchant base. Since January, we have onboarded 20 new logos, including a few heavy hitters like Umzu, Rhoback, and Clearly Filtered, and have partnered with top-tier agencies like Form Factory, Tomorrow, and Half Helix to onboard new merchants and iterate on our tech stack.

Not only is our catalog of brands expanding rapidly, but our existing customers are also deriving so much value from Pack that we've seen effectively zero churn. Working with such incredible brands is both exciting and humbling. We can't wait to help our customers continue to drive revenue and delight shoppers in 2024.

Internal growth: Locking in talent and leadership for 2024›

This past year, many new faces joined the Pack team. From tech support to operations and marketing, Pack has continued to source top talent to support our mission to unlock the value of Hydrogen for growing Shopify brands.

Here are the new PACKmates we've onboarded in 2023:

  • Margaret Julian, a veteran in the world of ecommerce, joined us as our Director of Product Marketing in Q1. Her guidance over the past eight months has been crucial in helping Pack expand its reach and number of partnerships.   

  • Cassie Blench brings 6+ years of talent acquisition experience at Lytx and Robert Half to her new role as our Director of People Operations. 

  • Kristyna Kral formerly founded SAMMI Solutions, a customizable streaming assistant for Twitch and YouTube. She recently joined our technical team as a Technical Support Engineer.

  • Corey Gwin is a founder of Blurt, which won Product Hunt's "Lifehack Product of the Year” in 2018. As a Senior Full-Stack Engineer, he has been an incredible addition to our technical team.

While our team grew substantially in 2023, and we're very proud of where we are from a leadership standpoint, we will continue to scout for top talent in 2024.

Looking ahead: Perfecting our product and cultivating a community

We spent 2023 identifying and providing the tools needed for custom eCommerce shops on Hydrogen to be successful. Moving into 2024, we plan to expand on this foundation by investing heavily into:

  • Building themes and integrations for Hydrogen storefronts

  • Making it even easier to explore and implement Pack

  • CRO tools and integrations for growth tools like split testing and analytics

As we continue to expand Pack's functionality, we are also prioritizing building a community around Shopify Hydrogen and Shopify’s new headless movement. 

Headless is a very technical yet rapidly growing solution to ecommerce's most common issues. As developers ourselves, we want to ensure technical teams become more intertwined in the world of headless and the decision-making process for headless tools. Investing in this growing community will be essential for our success and the growth of the headless market in 2024.
