The Challenge

Liquid I.V. wanted to enhance its ecomm experience — without a bloated tech stack

Liquid I.V. is a fast-growing, omnichannel CPG brand. However, running a DTC ecommerce operation comes with a unique set of challenges, which kept their marketing team from updating content efficiently:

  • Bloated tech stack — Their site was built on Shopify, but used a spiderweb of add-ons and third-party apps to manage their product data. 

  • Costly back-end maintenance — Going headless would give them more flexibility, but they’d be stuck paying developers to build custom components. 

  • Sluggish site performance — A previous agency added WordPress to their custom Shopify theme. This enabled the marketers to update content, but slowed down the site experience for customers.

On top of this, the Liquid I.V. brand and mission continued to evolve. Its efforts for social good include increasing access to water, donating products, funding global programs, and much more. Unfortunately, executing promotional campaigns around these efforts added another layer of complexity to their content management.
